This article explains how you can switch your clients to a NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland-funded account in your practice dashboard.
If your client has a business banking current account with either NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland, you have the option to switch them to a NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland-funded FreeAgent account. This means that their FreeAgent account will be free of charge for your practice, subject to the client retaining their business banking current account.
To switch an eligible client to NatWest/Royal Bank of Scotland-funded FreeAgent account, begin by selecting the 'My Clients' tab in your practice dashboard.
Review the 'RBSG Funding' column. If your client appears as 'Eligible', you can switch that client to a NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland-funded account.
To do this, begin by clicking on that client's name. Next, under the ‘Royal Bank of Scotland Funding Available’ panel located on the right, select 'Switch to funded'
Finally, you’ll be presented with a final 'Yes, I'm sure' button, which you'll need to select to complete the process.
Once you have pressed 'Yes, I'm sure', the client’s account status will be updated to 'Funded' in your practice dashboard.
The next time your client logs in to FreeAgent they will see a message (see below) asking whether they consent to FreeAgent sharing their account data with NatWest/Royal Bank of Scotland. Please note that regardless of how they answer this question, their account will have been switched successfully to NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland funding.
Your client will also notice that the NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland logo is displayed in their FreeAgent account - alongside the logo of your practice - after you’ve made the switch.
Commercial insights for clients with NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland-funded accounts
Your clients have been benefiting from our powerful insights functionality for a while now. Insights highlight useful information, issues and opportunities to your clients (like their best and worst paying customers) based on the data in their FreeAgent account.
Our new commercial insights are an extension of this and will allow users to access and use products from trusted partners, right inside FreeAgent. For example, if we spot that your client has recently employed someone but does not appear to have employer’s liability insurance, we might offer an easy way to add insurance directly from the app. These insights will always be data-driven and will provide personalised messages which and we hope that clients will find them really valuable.
The sole trader clients who you choose to switch to a NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland-funded account will be able to opt in to these messages if they feel they are of interest. The limited company clients who you choose to switch will receive these messages automatically and won’t be able to opt out.
