Mark Final Accounts and Corporation Tax returns as filed

This article explains the steps you need to take in order to mark your Final Accounts and Corporation Tax return as filed in FreeAgent.

If you have filed your End of Year accounts outside of FreeAgent, you can manually mark your Final Accounts report and Corporation Tax (CT600) return as filed. This will lock the accounts and prevent any changes from being made. You’ll need to have full (level 8) access to FreeAgent to follow the steps below.

Finalise your company’s End of Year report

Once you have filed your End of Year accounts outside of FreeAgent and you’re happy that the figures in FreeAgent are correct, you will need to finalise your End of Year report.

Navigate to the ‘Accounting’ tab at the top of the screen and select ‘End of Year’ from the drop-down menu.

Select ‘Approve and sign’.

In the pop-up window, enter the name that was displayed on the accounts you submitted to Companies House. Tick the checkboxes to the left of both declarations and then select ‘Add your signature’ to complete the process.

Next, you will need to mark your Final Accounts report and Corporation Tax return as filed.

Marking your Final Accounts report as filed

Navigate to the ‘Accounting’ tab at the top of the screen and select ‘Reports’ from the drop-down menu.

Choose ‘Final Accounts’ from the ‘High Level’ area.

Select the relevant accounting year from the list.

Select 'Mark as filed'.

Marking your Corporation Tax return as filed

Navigate to the Corporation Tax area of your FreeAgent account by selecting ‘Corporation Tax’ from the ‘Taxes’ drop-down menu.

Select the appropriate return from the list.
