How to enable Guess

This article explains what Guess is and how to enable it for your bank accounts.

Guess is a FreeAgent feature that attempts to automatically explain your transactions, based on existing information in your FreeAgent account. For information on how Guess explains your transactions, please see this article.

Guess is designed to save you time manually explaining all of your bank transactions by suggesting relevant explanations for you to approve. For information on how to approve or correct a guessed explanation, please see this article.

How to enable Guess

Guess is enabled by default when you add a new bank account to your FreeAgent account or upload a bank statement.

Adding a new bank account

When you’re adding a new bank account, the checkbox next to ‘Guess explanations for my transactions’ will be ticked by default to enable Guess.

FreeAgent will continue to guess explanations for your bank transactions that are imported into the bank account until you untick this checkbox.

If you unticked the box when adding the bank account, you can edit the bank account and tick the box to enable Guess.

Upload a bank statement

When you upload a bank statement, the checkbox next to ‘Guess explanations for my bank transactions’ will be ticked by default to enable guess.

FreeAgent will continue to guess explanations for your bank statement uploads until you untick this checkbox.
