Copy or reverse journal entries

This article explains how to copy or reverse an existing set of journal entries that you’ve created in FreeAgent.

Please note that you’ll need to have full (level 8) access to your FreeAgent account to be able to copy or reverse journal entries.

Find out how to edit or delete journal entries.

Navigate to the relevant journal entries

First, navigate to the 'Accounting' tab at the top of the screen and select 'Journal Entries' from the drop-down menu.

Select the relevant time period from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side.

How to copy journal entries

If you need to create similar journal entries on a regular basis, you can save yourself time by copying an existing set of journal entries.

To do this, select ‘Actions’ to the right of the relevant journal entries and select ‘Copy to new journal entries’ from the drop-down menu.

This will create another set of those journal entries with today’s date by default. Choose the relevant date and enter a description.

If you need to add extra journals to the new set, select ‘Add Another’ at the bottom of the list and enter the relevant information.

To remove journals from the new set, select the cross icon to the right of the relevant journals.

Once you’re happy with the journals, select ‘Create Journals’ at the bottom of the screen to complete the process.

How to reverse journal entries

If you need to switch the debit and credit values around, you can reverse an existing set of journal entries.

To do this, select ‘Actions’ to the right of the relevant journal entries and select ‘Reverse in new journal entries’ from the drop-down menu.

This will create a reversed set of those journal entries with today’s date by default. Choose the relevant date and enter a description.

If you need to add extra journals to the new set, select ‘Add Another’ and enter the relevant information.
