Set up Tap to Pay on mobile
This article explains how to use the FreeAgent mobile app to set up Tap to Pay via Stripe.
Please note:
- You’ll need to create a Stripe account and connect it to FreeAgent before following the steps below.
- If you’re an iOS user, your device will need to be running on iOS version 17 or later in order to use Tap to Pay.
Set up Tap to Pay via Stripe
Tap the '☰’ (mobile app navigation menu) button and select your business name.
Select ‘Payment solutions’ in the ‘Connections & Add-ons’ section.
If you've already connected Stripe to FreeAgent, select ‘Manage’ to the right of the Stripe option.
If you haven't connected Stripe to FreeAgent, select 'Connect' instead and follow the steps to connect Stripe to FreeAgent.
Select ‘Set up Tap to Pay’ in the Tap to Pay section.
This will take you to the Tap to Pay screen. Select the ‘Get started’ button to proceed.
Confirm your location
You’ll need to confirm your location within Stripe in order to use Tap to Pay.
If you already have a location saved in Stripe, you'll be asked to check if the location you have saved there is correct. If it is, select ‘Use this location’ to continue. If not, you can select ‘Create new location’ to enter a new address manually.
FreeAgent will automatically default to your business address if you don’t already have a Stripe address added. You can add or edit your address for Stripe if it is different to the business address you have saved in FreeAgent.
Select ‘Save & use’ to complete this part of the process.
Enable location access
If you haven't already done so, you'll need to enable location access. This helps to prevent fraud.
Select ‘Continue’.
A pop-up window will then appear with options for FreeAgent using your device location. If you're using an Android device, you’ll need to select either ‘While using the app’ or ‘Only this time’ in order to proceed.
If you're using an iOS device, you’ll need to select either ‘Allow While Using App’ or ‘Allow Once’.
If you're using an iOS device, you'll also need to link Tap to Pay with your Apple ID. Select 'Continue' or 'Use a Different Apple Account'.
If the setup has been successful, you’ll see a screen saying that ‘Tap to Pay has successfully been set up’. Select 'Done'.
You can start using it by selecting the ‘Create an invoice’ or ‘Go to my invoices’ if you want to use an existing invoice for an in-person payment.
