How to enable Open Banking bank feeds on the FreeAgent mobile app
This article explains how to enable Open Banking bank feeds, including multiple bank feeds from a single bank, on the FreeAgent mobile app.
Any changes you make using the FreeAgent mobile app will be reflected in the desktop version of FreeAgent.
FreeAgent will either match the bank feeds you enable in the mobile app to existing bank accounts in your account or create new bank accounts if required.
Please note that this functionality is currently only available on the FreeAgent mobile app and is not yet available on the full desktop version of FreeAgent. You will also need level 6 access or above to enable bank feeds.
Before you get started, make sure that an Open Banking bank feed is available for your bank in FreeAgent. If your bank doesn't support Open Banking, you will need to log in to the desktop version of FreeAgent and either upload bank statements or enter transactions manually.
If you have a non-UK bank, you will need to log in to the desktop version of FreeAgent and set up a third-party provider bank feed. If you have a business account with Monzo, Revolut, Starling Bank or Capital on Tap, you will need to set up a third-party bank feed integration via your bank.
1. Go to 'Banking'
Tap the three-lined 'hamburger' icon at the top-left of the FreeAgent mobile app and select 'Banking'.
Scroll down and tap 'Connect bank accounts'.
2. Select your bank
You can scroll down the list until you find your bank.
3. Select your service (only for certain banks)
Some banks provide separate bank services for business and personal accounts. If this is the case for your bank, you’ll be asked to choose which bank service you’d like to connect. If your bank doesn't have multiple services, you won't see this step.
4. Connect your bank account
As part of the Open Banking Standard, we need you to give your explicit consent every 90 days to connect your bank account to FreeAgent. When it’s time to update, we’ll let you know. Review this authorisation step and tap 'Connect bank account' when you're ready.
5. Authorise the connection with your bank
Your bank will prompt you to authorise the connection. Follow the guidance that your bank gives you to complete the setup and select all the bank accounts that you would like to connect to FreeAgent.
6. Review your connection details
You should now see confirmation that your connection has been successful. You'll also be asked to choose a transaction start date, which is the earliest date from which you'd like your bank transactions to be imported.
Tap 'Continue to account' when you're finished. The FreeAgent mobile app will have either matched the bank feeds you enabled to existing bank accounts in your account or it will have created new bank accounts in FreeAgent to correspond to the bank feeds.
