Save an invoice as a PDF
This article explains how to save an invoice that you’ve created as a PDF file.
If you’re not sending the invoice to a customer using FreeAgent, or if you want to save a copy of the invoice on your device, you can save it as a PDF.
If you’re receiving the payment for the invoice online using PayPal, Stripe or Tyl by NatWest, you can add a payment link to the bottom of your invoices next to the bank details.
Navigate to the ‘Work’ tab at the top of the screen and select ‘Invoicing’ from the drop-down menu.
Navigate to the ‘Actions’ drop-down menu next to the relevant invoice and select ‘Download PDF’.
Once you've saved the invoice PDF, select 'Mark as sent' from the 'Actions' menu to include the invoice in your accounts and allow them to pay it online if an online payment option was selected.
Alternatively, if you’ve already navigated to be within the relevant invoice, select 'Save as PDF' from the invoice page.
PDF not rendered at this time error message
If you receive an error message that the PDF couldn’t be rendered, this may be caused by copying text from an application such as MS Word as this can bring in unicode characters which FreeAgent doesn’t support.
The best way to avoid this would be to copy your block text from MS Word to Windows Notepad and then copy into the text field in FreeAgent, as this will strip out these unsupported characters. Alternatively, retyping the text will also work. Please note that the invoice will have to be marked as draft before you can edit the text.
