Add costs to a project
This article explains how to add costs to a project so that you can rebill them to your customer if you have agreed that they will cover the cost.
Bill
When you add a bill, you have the option to link it to a project by choosing the relevant project from the 'Link to Project' drop-down menu.
You can then choose whether to charge the customer for it and, if so, for how much.
If you won't be rebilling the cost of the bill to your customer, select 'No'. If you are rebilling the cost to your customer, choose whether that will be 'At cost', 'With a percentage markup', or 'At a specific price'.
Out-of-pocket expense
When you add an out-of-pocket expense, you can link it to a project by choosing the relevant project from the 'Link to Project' drop-down menu.
You can then choose whether to charge the customer for it and, if so, for how much.
If you won't be rebilling the cost to your customer, select 'No'. If you are rebilling the cost to your customer, choose whether that will be 'At cost', 'With a percentage markup', or 'At a specific price'.
Mileage
When you record a mileage claim, you can link it to a project by choosing the relevant project from the 'Link to Project' drop-down menu. You can then choose whether to rebill it to your customer and, if so, for how much.
Bank transaction
When you explain a bank transaction, you can link it to a project by choosing the relevant project from the 'Link to Project' drop-down menu.
You can then choose whether to charge the customer for it and, if so, for how much.
If you won't be rebilling the cost to your customer, select 'No'. If you are rebilling the cost to your customer, choose whether that will be 'At cost', 'With a percentage markup', or 'At a specific price'.
How does FreeAgent work out the VAT when rebilling a cost to a customer?
When you rebill a cost, FreeAgent automatically charges the net amount plus VAT to your customer.
How to view which costs you've rebilled
You can see which costs you've rebilled to a project by viewing it in the 'Projects' screen.
