Logging in to your FreeAgent account

This article explains the four methods you can use to sign in to your FreeAgent account.

If you're unable to log in to your FreeAgent account, please see our troubleshooting steps for problems logging into FreeAgent.

There are multiple ways to log in to your FreeAgent account. You can either log in via:

The FreeAgent login page

Visit the FreeAgent login page and enter the email address and password associated with your FreeAgent account in the relevant fields.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

If you use two-factor authentication (2FA), you'll need to enter a code from your authenticator app each time you wish to access the account, even if that device is known. Please note that the code will always be generated on an authenticator app and will never be sent via SMS.

Read more about logging into your accounting using 2FA.

If you're unable to access your authenticator app, your recovery codes provide you with another way to log in to your FreeAgent account.

Select ‘I want to use a recovery code.

If you don't have access to your recovery codes, please contact our support team by selecting the blue Help button at the bottom of the screen and they'll take you through an identity verification procedure before allowing you back into your account.

New email login check

If you've enabled the new login check and you log into FreeAgent using a new device that isn't a known device, or after clearing cookies, you'll be sent a six digit verification code to your email address that you'll need to enter to verify your account.

'Check your email' window with field to 'Enter your verification code' and button to 'Log in'.

Select ‘Log in’ to complete the process. Read more about logging in when a new login check is enabled.

If you don't have access to the email address that the code was sent to and you have a recovery email set up, select 'Try another way' and choose 'Recovery email address' to send a code to your recovery email address.

'Recovery email address' selected from 'Other ways to log in'.

You’ll be prompted to check your recovery email address and enter the verification code.

If you’re unable to log in using your recovery email address, contact the account owner and ask them to generate a one-time code for you to log in with. Once you have the code, select ‘Recovery code’ and enter the one-time code in the field provided.

Logging in when you have multiple FreeAgent accounts

If you have multiple FreeAgent accounts registered with the same email address and password, you will follow the same steps as above and will then be prompted to select the account you wish to access.

If you have multiple FreeAgent accounts which use a different email address and/or password, using your specific FreeAgent URL for the relevant account will help you log in successfully. You can bookmark the specific login page for each account so that you can log in to the appropriate accounts easily.
