View and manage known devices in FreeAgent
This article explains how to view and manage your known devices in FreeAgent, including related email notifications.
A ‘known device’ is a smartphone, tablet or computer that you use to log in to FreeAgent. If you're unable to log in to your FreeAgent account, please see our troubleshooting steps for login problems.
At FreeAgent, we use a number of technical and organisational measures to make sure our data is secure and to help protect you against fraudulent use of your account.
From 1st October 2021, when you log in to your FreeAgent account, a record of the device and IP address that was used to log in will be recorded.
If you then log in to your FreeAgent account using a different device or IP address from 1st November 2021, you’ll receive an email notification alerting you of this to make sure that it was you who logged in. If you’d like to stop receiving these emails, please see the instructions below.
Managing known devices
Select 'Settings' from the drop-down menu in the top-right of your FreeAgent account and then select 'Known Devices'.
A list of devices and IP addresses that have been used to log in to your FreeAgent account since 1st October 2021 will be displayed. Please note that the location information shown is derived from the source IP address, so the accuracy of the location may vary.
If you’d like FreeAgent to forget a particular device and IP address, so that you’ll receive an email notification the next time that device and IP address is used to log in to your account, select ‘Forget’ to the right of the relevant device/IP address.
How to unsubscribe from the new device email notification
If you no longer want to receive an email notification each time a new device or IP address is used to log in to your FreeAgent account, select 'Settings' from the drop-down menu in the top-right of your FreeAgent account and then select 'My Details'.
Untick the ‘New login to your FreeAgent account‘ checkbox in the ‘Security Notifications’ section and select ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom of the screen to complete the process.
If you would like to receive these email notifications in the future, tick the box and select ‘Save Changes’.
