Create a Tracking Group
This article explains how to create a Tracking Group in FreeAgent.
Tracking Groups allow you to track different areas of your business by assigning labels to expenses and bank transactions in FreeAgent. You can also view a report on these Tracking Groups to help you make the best decisions for your business.
Please note:
- You need level 7 access or above to your FreeAgent account to create Tracking Groups.
- You can create up to five Tracking Groups and each Tracking Group can have up to 25 labels.
- You can only create Tracking Groups on the desktop version of FreeAgent.
Create a Tracking Group
Navigate to the ‘Accounting’ tab and select ‘Tracking Groups’ from the drop-down menu.
If it’s your first time making a Tracking Group, select the ‘Get started’ button.
Alternatively, if you’ve already made a Tracking Group, select ‘Add new Tracking Group’ in the top-right to create a new one.
Add a name for the Tracking Group in the ‘Title’ field that represents the broad category you want to report on, such as a department within the business, a region or a product line.
In the ‘Tracking labels’ section, you can enter specific items within the group that you use to categorise your income. For example, if you create a Tracking Group for ‘Locations’, you might create labels for each of the locations in which you run your business. These fields have a maximum of 50 characters.
If you want to add additional labels, select the ‘Add more’ button and another field will appear for you to fill in.
Once you’ve entered the relevant labels, select ‘Save and finish’ to complete the process.
