Assign a Tracking Group to a bank transaction

This article explains how you can assign a Tracking Group to a bank transaction in FreeAgent.

Please note:

  • You can select up to one active label from each active Tracking Group to allocate to the bank transaction.
     
  • You can select up to a total of 5 labels.
     
  • You won’t see labels from hidden groups as an option to assign to the bank transaction.

You can also assign a Tracking Group to an out-of-pocket expense.

Assign a Tracking Group to a bank transaction

You can assign a Tracking Group to the following types of bank transactions:

Money in

  • Sales
  • Refund
  • Rental Income (unincorporated landlord accounts only)
  • Other Money In (income categories only)

Money out

  • Sales Refund
  • Payment
  • Rental Income Refund (unincorporated landlord accounts only)
  • Other Money Out (Realized Currency Exchange Loss category only)

When explaining or editing a bank transaction, navigate to the ‘Tracking Groups’ section and select which label(s) you want to assign the bank transaction to.

Select 'Explain transaction' or 'Save changes' to complete the process.

Edit the Tracking Group labels assigned to a bank transaction

If you need to change the Tracking Group label(s) that has been assigned to a bank transaction, you can either edit the transaction and change the label(s), or use Find and Fix to edit the Tracking Group labels for multiple transactions in bulk.
