Reconnect your Practice Dashboard to HMRC for Making Tax Digital for VAT
This article explains how to reconnect your Practice Dashboard to HMRC for Making Tax Digital for VAT.
Please note that as there is only one MTD for VAT connection for the whole Practice Dashboard, this only needs to be updated once per dashboard. If you have received an email that the MTD connection update is due for your dashboard, please check with the account manager responsible for this process if the MTD connection hasn’t already been updated.
Once you have set up your practice for MTD for VAT in FreeAgent, you will be able to file MTD VAT returns on behalf of your clients using the software.
Every 18 months you will be required by HMRC to re-establish this connection. FreeAgent will display an ‘Expiring soon’ warning in the 'HMRC Connection' box on the right-hand side of your clients’ VAT returns 10 days before the connection is due to expire.’ Select ‘Update connection’ to renew the connection.
Alternatively, you can log in to your Practice Dashboard and select ‘Connections & Add-ons’ from the drop-down menu below your practice name.
Next, select ‘Manage' on the ‘HMRC connections’ panel.
From the 'HMRC Connections' page, select 'Disconnect'.
Once you have disconnected, you will be invited to select 'Connect FreeAgent to HMRC'. Use your agent services account login credentials to re-establish the connection.
