Get a quote and purchase small business insurance from Hiscox
This article explains how to get a guide price, build an insurance quote and purchase insurance from Hiscox.
FreeAgent has partnered with Hiscox to provide insurance designed especially for small businesses.
If you have a FreeAgent account, you can follow the steps below to get an estimated guide price for insurance from Hiscox and then build a quote and purchase a policy if you wish. If you’re not an existing FreeAgent user, you can find out more about Hiscox and sign up to FreeAgent here.
Please note:
- It’s currently not possible to link an existing Hiscox insurance policy to your FreeAgent account. Only the policy documents for Hiscox insurance arranged via FreeAgent can be displayed within your FreeAgent account.
- Following the steps below to get a guide price and quote is completely without obligation. If you choose to move forward with purchasing a policy, your FreeAgent subscription amount will not be altered in any way, as you will pay Hiscox for your insurance directly.
What is the difference between a guide price and quote?
A guide price is a rough estimate for how much your insurance would cost based on the information currently in your FreeAgent account.
A quote is the actual price you would pay for insurance once you’ve entered the relevant information about your business on Hiscox’s website.
1. Get a guide price
Navigate to the drop-down menu at the top-right of the screen and select ‘Connections & Add-ons’.
Select ‘Get started’ in the ‘Hiscox’ section.
Start typing your business trade in the field below 'What type of work do you do?' and select from the automated list provided. If your specific trade isn't included on the list, select an alternative that is the closest to what you do.
Next, tick the checkbox if you wish to share parts of your FreeAgent data with Hiscox in order to generate a more accurate guide price. If you agree, the following data will be shared: your contact details, business name, trading start date, annual turnover, annual payroll and number of employees.
Once you’ve entered the relevant information, select ‘Get my guide price’.
Next, you’ll be presented with guide prices for the different insurance policies that Hiscox can offer your business.
If you chose to share some of your FreeAgent data with Hiscox, you can select the arrow to the right of ‘Assumptions we’ve made to construct your guide price’ to view more details about how Hiscox constructed your guide price. Please note that if any of these assumptions are not accurate, you will need to amend these as you progress through the quote journey, which may impact the price and/or whether Hiscox will be able to insure your business.
Tick the checkbox next to the type of cover you’d like to receive a quote for and select ‘Continue building my quote’ to proceed.
2. Build a quote
Next, you’ll be automatically taken to Hiscox’s website. Enter the relevant information about your business, including when you’d like the policy to start and how you’d like to be contacted, and select ‘View quote’ at the bottom of the screen to proceed.
Select the relevant options for your cover and select ‘Continue’ to proceed.
Enter the relevant details about you and your business and select 'Your declarations' at the bottom of the screen to proceed.
Answer a few final questions about your business and select 'Summary and payment' to proceed to purchasing the insurance.
Choose when you would like the cover to start, review your quote agreement, select ‘Agree’ to confirm the terms and conditions and select 'Payment' to proceed to purchasing the insurance.
3. Purchase the insurance policy
Select your preferred payment method and enter your bank details, selecting ‘Agree’ to the terms and conditions if you choose to pay by Direct Debit. Once you’ve entered the relevant information, select ‘Pay now’ at the bottom of the screen to complete the purchase. Please note that at this step in the process you are committing to taking out an insurance policy with Hiscox and this cannot be undone via FreeAgent.
A message will appear confirming the payment was successful and advise that your PDF documents will be available in your FreeAgent account within 72 hours. You’ll receive an email confirmation from Hiscox when those documents are ready to view in FreeAgent.
To return to your FreeAgent account, select ‘Return to FreeAgent’.
You’ll be taken to the ‘Hiscox’ connections page which will confirm that your policy has been connected to FreeAgent. Please note that it can take up to 72 hours for your policy documents to appear in FreeAgent.
