How to export a Self Assessment Filed report

This article explains how to export a list of the Self Assessment tax returns for your sole trader and limited company director clients to show whether they have been filed, marked as filed or not yet filed using FreeAgent for a particular tax year.

Please note that:

  • the report will only include clients who are sole traders or limited company directors

  • senior account managers can export a report for all of the practice’s clients, whereas non-senior account managers can only export a report for the clients assigned to them

  • if a client has multiple users on their FreeAgent account, each user will be shown on a separate line on the CSV file

Begin by logging in to your Practice Dashboard and selecting the ‘Reports’ tab.

Select ‘Self Assessment Filed’ from the list of ‘Report Types’.

First, choose the period that you’d like to export from the ‘Tax year’ drop-down menu.

Next, choose which clients you'd like to export the report for from the 'Clients' drop-down menu.

If you’re a senior account manager, you can either select all of the clients on your Practice Dashboard or only the clients that are assigned to you. If you're a non-senior account manager, you can only select the clients that are assigned to you.

Select ‘Generate Report’ to complete the process.

Next, the report will appear in your browser as a .zip file, which will automatically download to your computer. Unzip the file to access a CSV file of the report, which you can then open in your preferred spreadsheet software. The file will also be sent to the email address associated with your FreeAgent account.

If the .zip file doesn’t download automatically, select the 'manually download it here' link and follow the same process as above to access the report using your preferred spreadsheet software.
