Update your Tax Timeline preferences

This article explains how to customise which items and tax amounts are displayed on your Tax Timeline in FreeAgent.

Please note that:

  • If you work with an accountant who is a FreeAgent Partner, only your accountant can update your Tax Timeline preferences.

If you don’t work with an accountant who is a FreeAgent Partner, you’ll need full (level 8) access to FreeAgent to update your Tax Timeline preferences.

  • Preferences can’t be set for individual users. All users with level 7 access or above will see the same information on the Tax Timeline.

  • Your timeline preferences will be applied to the calendar sync, Monday Motivator emails, FreeAgent mobile app and supported banking apps such as Mettle or NatWest.

The Tax Timeline is a calendar overview of the important tax dates and liabilities for you and your business based on the accounting dates and VAT return dates in your VAT settings.

Corporation Tax, Final Accounts, PAYE/NI, Self Assessment and VAT item categories will be shown on the Tax Timeline by default, depending on which liabilities are applicable to your FreeAgent account type. The tax amounts of any liabilities that the business is due to pay will also be shown by default.

You can choose which item categories to display and whether to show or hide the tax amounts due. Please note that if you hide your tax liability from your Tax Timeline in FreeAgent, you won’t see a tax calculation in one of our supported banking apps, such as Mettle or NatWest.

To hide any of the item categories completely, select ‘Hide’ from the drop-down menu next to the relevant item(s).
