Migrate your Halifax bank feed to Lloyds
This article explains how to migrate your Halifax bank feed to one of Lloyds's bank services in FreeAgent. This ensures that your bank feed will continue to automatically import transactions in FreeAgent.
Lloyds Banking Group is phasing out the Halifax brand and consolidating its operations under Lloyds Bank. As part of that change Lloyds is phasing out Halifax feeds from 3rd November 2026. Because of that change, you need to move your Halifax bank feed over to a Lloyds feed that matches your Lloyds account. If you need assistance with your Halifax bank account being changed to a Lloyds bank account outside of FreeAgent, please get in touch with Lloyds bank directly.
Please note:
- This migration only impacts Halifax bank feeds. Any bank feeds related to other banks within FreeAgent are not affected.
- The steps below apply to those who have already set up a Halifax bank feed in FreeAgent. If you haven’t got a Halifax bank feed set up and just want to set up a brand new Lloyds bank feed, read more on how to enable an Open Banking bank feed.
Migrate your Halifax bank feed to Lloyds
There are two steps to this process:
- Disconnect your existing Halifax bank feed
- Reconnect your Open Banking bank feed to Lloyds and select a new service
1. Disconnect your existing Halifax bank feed
Navigate to the drop-down menu under your business name and select ‘Connections & Add-ons’.
Select 'Manage' in the 'Bank connections' section.
Select ‘Halifax’.
Select ‘Disconnect from bank’ in the top-right. Please note that if you’re connected to more than one account for Halifax within FreeAgent, disconnecting will remove access to all accounts that FreeAgent has been granted access to for Halifax.
Select ‘Disconnect’ in the pop-up window to complete the process.
2. Reconnect your Open Banking bank feed and select a new service
Next, you’ll need to reconnect to a new Lloyds bank account in FreeAgent and select one of Lloyds Bank’s services.
Navigate to the old Halifax bank account
If you aren’t already within it, navigate to the old Halifax bank account.
We recommend you renaming it to match the Lloyds service you’re going to connect with.
To do this, select ‘Edit details’.
Write the new name in the ‘Account name' field to match the Lloyds service you’re connecting with.
Select ‘Save changes’.
From the bank account page, select ‘Enable bank feed’ in the top-right or in the ‘Bank feed’ panel.
Next, select ‘Lloyds’ from the ‘Select your bank’ area .
Select the bank service
Lloyds provides separate bank services for Personal, Business and Corporate accounts, select the bank service that matches your account. If you want to connect multiple Lloyds account types, you’ll need to repeat this process for each banking service.
Give consent for the connection
Next, select ‘Connect to my bank’ to provide your consent to access your account details.
As part of the Open Banking Standard, we need you to give your explicit consent every 90 days to connect your bank account to FreeAgent. But don’t worry, when it’s time to update, we’ll let you know.
Authorise the connection with your bank
Next, you’ll be taken to Lloyds bank’s website to authorise the connection process. This process may differ from service to service, so please follow the prompts given by your bank to complete the connection setup with FreeAgent.
When you’re entering your account number and sort code, it’s important to make sure not to include any spaces or dashes between those numbers, or you won’t be able to complete the setup process.
Choose an account and transaction start date
To complete the process, confirm or select a Halifax bank account within FreeAgent to associate with the feed, choose your transaction start date and select ‘Link Account’. Please note that your transaction start date cannot be earlier than your FreeAgent start date and it cannot be changed after the bank feed has been enabled.
What happens next?
Select 'Show me my transactions' and you’ll be taken to the main Banking screen.
On the Banking screen, you'll see that your bank feed is currently pending. Your feed should start pulling through transactions very soon and import transactions once every 24 hours moving forwards.
In addition to this, the bank feeds are only able to import transactional data that has been made available by the bank directly, so the bank feed will only be able to import transactions which are deemed as fully cleared by the bank and made available to the feed at the time of the import.
